Hosts Ilse and Greg Bowen have transformed this fine old home, with its distinctive gabled roof, leadlight windows and shady verandahs, into a very superior country guesthouse. Under their guidance Gables By The Lake offers exceptional level of comfort. Facilities include an 11-metre solar-heated swimming pool, outdoor barbeque, private landscaped gardens, and air conditioning throughout.

The separate studio apartment is entirely self-contained and offers a queen-size bed, spacious bathroom, private verandah and TV/VCR - plus two sofa beds for more accommodation. It also has a kitchenette equipped with microwave, cooktop and fridge. A hairdryer, bathrobes and soft towels are all supplied.

The newly completed studio apartment offers a private courtyard, plus all the things you might need for a romantic short break. Apart from the king-size bed, guests enjoy a well designed bathroom, a microwave and fridge, TV/VCR facilities and air-conditioning. All guests enjoy a complimentary fruit platter or bottle of wine on arrival.

There are plenty of options for lunch and dinner - with many restaurants, cafes and clubs nearby.  Or guests may have a private, romantic gourmet dinner in the antique dining room. And in the morning, choose either a breakfast basket or a home-cooked meal.

Within easy driving distance of the Hunter Valley and Nelson Bay, Gables By The Lake is an ideal base from which to explore this wonderful region. Those who choose to stay closer to home will enjoy the delights of Lake Macquarie - a mecca for all types of watersports - just a short stroll away.
